We are glad to announce that Lionwood.software is in the list of Top 3 small-size Ukrainian IT/software employers made by DOU – the nation’s largest professional community! Considering the company’s long-standing commitment to talent retention (which is logical given our largely niche focus on custom projects) this is a welcome moment of recognition for us as a team.

DOU, an online Ukrainian community of IT/software professionals operating around a synonymous website, has been around since 2005, and currently serves over half a million registered users alone (with web traffic figures showing even greater numbers of casual visitors). Wielding this power of engagement, DOU often functions as a source of truth about the state of the nation’s industry in general and countless companies in particular. The community also organizes polls that are, by now, commonly used as data for scientific and market research. The best companies lists like this fall within this category of initiatives.

This particular list, created based on questionnaires throughout 2025, aimed to determine the best companies to work at across several size categories, from smaller businesses (81-200) to large enterprises (>1500), with Lionwood.software in the former category.

Companies were evaluated by people working for them as of the time of completing the questionnaire, across six scales: compensation, work conditions, career opportunities, projects, corporate culture, career opportunities, and social responsibility.

Being a company that focuses on highly tailored software and often quite unique projects, Lionwood.software is indeed often viewed as a haven for specialists with certain tech stacks who desire to “dig deeper” in the fields of logistics, manufacturing, and educational software. In this respect, the image of Lionwood as a company focusing on project quality rather than sheer amount has definitely been shaped right.

Another factor at play is the corporate culture that is built on high social impact and hands-on managerial styles. An emphasis on social life and proactive actions have always been part of Lionwood.software’s identity as a rather closely-knit circle of professionals – in fact, the effects of this have been discussed earlier in this very blog.

Lionwood.software’s HR team takes the distinction enthusiastically. Anna Bodnar, the company’s Head of Talent Acquisition, says:

“We are quite happy to be distinguished on DOU: apart from a pleasant moment of recognition, this makes us more visible, more people are aware we’re here. Which means we can not only engage more professionals with exactly the profiles we need for our projects – but these will also be people who share our values.”

The team, traditionally composed of professionals who focus on long-term, niche projects that aggregate a lot of industry-specific expertise, is expected to benefit from this kind of exposure. Lionwood.software is known to value talent retention (as of today, about 75% of all specialists in the company are middle/senior level), and attracting professionals with long collaboration in mind is exactly the strategy that the company consistently adopts.

As Lionwood.software is growing, the original spirit of a small but powerful team is preserved remarkably well – which also contributes to the positive perception of work conditions. The company is poised to keep up this atmosphere for the years to come.
