About The

Project

A Ukrainian project dedicated to supporting war veterans with rehabilitation and providing other help to the people affected, UNBROKEN became a major hub of activity almost immediately with the start of the full-scale invasion. Their website now needed to represent the organization, provide information for all parties involved, and handle donations at the same time. Lionwood.software provided development and maintenance services on a volunteer basis, while adjusting to the organization’s rapidly changing circumstances and working in a flexible but steady iterative manner.

The

Challenge

The project started amid a general crisis that was managed by volunteer movements and the government alike, while the vision of what the organization would have to deal with (especially quantitatively) was constantly updated. The website of the organization was meant to become a digital threshold for all the possible types of users involved, including the military, conscripts, civilians, investors, and more. What started as a landing page then progressed to a full-blown website accepting donations and redirecting people to information about how to receive care provided by the foundation.

Project

Goals

1

Create a website that would represent all of the facets of the organization’s activities

2

Enable blog and donations functionalities

3

Ensure multi-level roles and permissions system

4

Provide maintenance services continuously

5

Work in sprints that can allow the client to focus on their primary goal, while constantly improving the site and maintaining the level of flexibility needed

6

Ensure the balance between Ukrainian and English versions of the site

Results

The website project grew with the project itself and due to the iterative nature of the project, was constantly adjusted to the priorities of the organization. As of today, the site includes content for diverse groups of users (including information about projects, participation, rehabilitation locations, reports on spending, etc.), easily found through UX. At the same time, integrations with LiqPay and Apple Pay allow to streamline donations to the organization. The site also features a blog.

Implications

  • The project exemplifies the importance of flexibility in managing rapidly evolving needs, particularly during a crisis. This adaptability ensured that the digital platform grew alongside the organization’s expanding scope.
  • The iterative development of the website highlights how non-profits can leverage technology to expand their reach, improve accessibility, and better serve diverse stakeholders, from donors to beneficiaries.
  • By incorporating spending reports and detailed project information, the website builds trust among stakeholders, fostering long-term support and collaboration.
